For Faculty & Staff
The Global Experience Seminars are designed with faculty, staff and curriculum development in mind.
The deadline for Summer 2024 programs and early consideration for Summer 2025 is April 3, 2023, at 11:59pm.
, as well as opportunities to use time differently than in traditionally scheduled classes.
Global Experience Seminar courses may be disciplinary or interdisciplinary; they may be newly developed courses, or they may be reconfigured versions of regular semester offerings already listed in the catalog. It is not necessary to have local contacts established at time of application; through exploratory travel, new and existing academic and professional networks, and with the support of the Global Experience Office, these logistics will be arranged.
This proposal represents a vision for a course which is appealing to students, is appropriate to the hub site chosen, and promotes faculty research and development.
Details
. We recommend that programs are 3-4 weeks in duration. This may include program activities which occur on campus or domestically, such as pre-departure training or academic work, to scaffold the immersive experience on-site.
For example, a program may have 1 week of academic preparation on campus, followed by 2 weeks in the program location, and meet the minimum requirement of 3 weeks for a Global Experience Seminar.
The long-term vision of these hubs is intentional, bi- and multilateral academic partnerships which mutually enrich exchange and learning, both on-site and virtually.
The sites are developed with faculty, staff and curriculum development at the center. Program development and faculty leader support will be offered by the Global Experience Office.
- The site visit in AY 2022-2023 will be to Belfast, Northern Ireland, over Fall Break (October 15-23, 2022).
- We anticipate that the site visit in AY 2023-2024 will be to Dakar, Senegal and Accra, Ghana, likely in January 2024.
An application form for the site visits will be circulated. Please be in touch if you have not received it.

As Beloit College develops our international hubs, we are expanding our networks through our existing local partnerships. These partnerships vary from site to site; please work with the Global Experience Office for more information.
In general, these are the resources faculty have used as they develop short-term programs:
- Faculty experience. For faculty with professional, academic, or personal experience in one of the target sites, This may help to keep costs down or build a more flexible, immersive experience for students, but may be more labor intensive in terms of both planning and on-site logistics.
- International university partner.
- Third-party provider. Many third-party providers work with colleges to offer customized programs. In this arrangement, faculty can rely on the providers for their contacts, facilities, risk management measures, and logistical support. The Global Experience Office will support the arrangements with the provider.
Regardless of the partnerships leveraged during the program, Beloit College faculty are expected to be the primary instructors. Creativity is encouraged as you prepare your course!
